Rules of Thumb for the 2017 Batch A Registration exercise.

To all PCM (Prospective Corps Member), as the 2017 Batch A registration exercise commences tomorrow being the 20th of April. We wish you the very best and a successful registration exercise. Please, as a matter of great concern, take note of the following as it will definitely keep you from serious challenges during and after the registration exercise both on the portal and the orientation camp of the state you will be deployed to. The rules are as follow:
  1. Do not allow the person assisting you with registration attempt to use his/her thumb on the biometric scanner, in the name of testing. If the device is not capturing your finger print, unplug the scanner and plug it back, close the registration tab and login again. We have actually had issues like that, where a so called cyber cafe attendant finger print was captured since the PCM's finger print was not responding. The truth is this, I did not register her in camp, because the first registration process in camp involves finger print verification. I think a word is a enough for a wise.
  2. Do not proceed to make payment in the bank without getting to the point of making paymnt on the portal (http://portal.nysc.org.ng). Actually, the portal uses your email address as a unique identity to recognised your payment made through Remita payment gateway in the bank. PCMs last year hurriedly made payment with email address they hadn't access to for months. When they were about to commenced the registration on the portal, a verification link was sent their email addresses respectively. But they couldn't gain access to their email because they had forgotten the password. Hence, the money was lost and they had to create a new email account and make a fresh payment.
  3. Use a white background passport photograph that reveals your handsome/beautiful face and chest
  4. Very important, ensure you check your DOB (Date Of Birth), immediately you get to the personal data page on the portal. Some female PCMs' date of birth was deliberately uploaded erroneously by the officer in charge of corps members mobilization of an institution in Abia state, name of institution withheld. Owing to the fact that he asked them out and the refused, you should understand what I mean, no further explanation there. So, as his way of frustrating them, he did that so that they can be exempted from the service year, because they were over aged. While others will be getting discharge certificate, they will be getting exemption certificate. Though, the male PCMs were not left out in this mess. Please, ensure you check your DOB for its correctness. Subsequent updates  will cover in details,  Exception certificate, discharge certificate and exclusion letter, its advantages and disadvantages.
  5. Please, do not be in hurry in registering, stream 1 and stream 2 is randomly done and not based on the time you completed the registration exercise. I will strongly advise you do the registration yourself and only go to the a business center for the biometric capture if you don't have the device. This will enable able you take your time and read every information carefully before filling the form on the portal.
  6. Do not use someone else matriculation number during the registration exercise, we have had issues like that, though I can't start narrating it right here.
  7. Most preferrably, use your ATM card (Master or Verve) to make the payment when you get to stage of making payment. Note that, you cannot print your green card without making payment. If you rather use Remita to make the payment in the bank and it does not reflect, do not panic, I will drop a link and show you how to solve these problem.
  8. Married PCMs should upload their, marriage certificate, husband's appointment letter or letter of identification from employer or community leader, Newspaper change of name, NEPA BILL, National Identity card or Voter's card or International passport. If you want to be deployed to the state he is currently working or residing.
  9. For PCMs with medical issues, under the Select health status option, select 'Poor'. You will be prompted to upload your medical report, you can make reference to the previous update on A-Z of 2017 Batch B Deployment and Relocation for more information. Please, do not upload fake medical report, we will know.
  10. Decide in your heart, the four states of your choice, note that you must choose two northern states.
I will be dropping more updated list before the day runs out, to arm you better before the registration exercise. Comments and contributions are highly welcome.
I will be Opening the comment area to respond to some of the problems and challenges you will be experiencing tomorrow. Though, I will help some of you solve some online portal, if I am not too busy. Have a nice day.

A-Z of NYSC 2017 Batch A Deployment and Relocation

Actually, a considerable measure of prospective corps members regularly search for approaches to influence their state of deployment. Some may end up being successful, while others may be a painful disappointment perhaps owing to lack of money or getting in touch with wrong person who claims to be an NYSC official. But the truth is this, the whole deployment process is automated now, don't be deceived. These latter set of individuals in this painful disappointment, rather leave their expectation under the control of destiny. While believe in destiny, it could bring unforeseen cheerful results once in a while. In this situation, they start to conceptualize on ways for relocation.
Relocation in a nutshell, can be seen as process of transferring a corps member from one state to another more preferred and confortable one.
Relocation process ought to be initiated by the corps member. Relocation exercise usually begins in the orientation camp after the swearing-in ceremony and the process also re-applied for, after three(3) months of your stay in your PPA (Place of Primary Assignment). However, there are laid down conditions/factors that are very essential in order to make the relocation process a huge success story.

Factors Suitable For Relocation of Corp Members

It is very pertinent that you become acquainted with these process ahead of time. There is a great deal of stress required in this procedure and your inability to know ahead of time can make it considerably more troublesome a procedure. Inability to have this information ahead of time may make every effort to process your relocation in the orientation camp unsuccessful.Owing to this trouble in failing to discover all you need to effectively go through the process, might make you to begin to forge documents in the camp in order to scale through the process, which may end up putting you in shame and trouble. The bases on which you can be relocated out of your current state of deployment include:

Relocation on Marital ground:

If you are truly married, I don't mean marriage by force when a lady traps herself in a man's house without any bride price let alone doing a proper introduction to the family she belongs. I mean a marriage that follow the right processes. NYSC has made it very possible for you to be granted relocation to the exact state your husband resides or works except you make a different choice of state due to personal reasons. You don't need to kneel, plead or shoot money into anyone's pocket, to help you do this. It is your right, it is as sure as death. Good enough, if you are heavy, I mean pregnant, you will be granted what we call instant relocation. You will not be allowed to spend even a night in the orientation camp, your relocation will be processed immediately you have registered and given a state code number. This benefit is only opened to female corps members. Note that a male corps member can not relocate on marital ground, it has never been done in the history of NYSC. Those relocating on marital ground would be required to provide the following vital documents:
  • A handwritten formal letter addressed to the Director General of NYSC
  • A fully completed relocation form (Given to you by one the relocation officers)
  • A Newspaper Change of Name(The specimen page containing your name)
  • Marriage Certificate
  • PHCN bill Or Your husband's appointment letter Or Letter of Identification from your husband's employer

Relocation on Health ground:

You can likewise be considered for relocation on health grounds. This is open to both the male and female corps member in the orientation camp. You must have a life treating medical illness that makes it very difficult for you not to stay away from your parents, siblings or guardians. This must be most be backed up with a concrete and genuine medical report from a General Hospital, Military/Police Hospital or Federal Medical Center's. Private hospital's medical report WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Your report would experience examination and severe scrutiny. You will also be asked series of questions by experienced medical doctors. The procedure is stricter than some time recently. Though, its always my moment of consistent laughter, because most corps member will claim a whole lot of ailment and find it very difficult to defend it. A vast majority of this report are usually sent to the NYSC secretariat in the state where the report was obtained for its authenticity to be verified in the hospital. So, please be warned. Those relocating on health ground would be required to provide the following vital documents:
  • A handwritten formal letter addressed to the Director General of NYSC
  • A fully completed relocation form (Given to you by one the relocation officers)
  • Medical report (From a Government owned hospital)
  • Sample of drugs used during ailment (Where Applicable)

Relocation on Security:

The insurgency in some states in our country Nigeria is very alarming, especially in some states in the Northern Nigeria. With the advert of Boko Haram in most northern states our country and the nefarious behaviour of people in this areas, the safety of majority of these corps members can not be guaranteed. No guardian or parent would feel at home to leave his or her ward in these threat zones. NYSC has actually made it possible for those corps members to apply for relocation without any document. Usually, corps members deployed to any this states are usually taken to other peaceful northern states for the orientation exercise. For those being unfortunate to be sent to these states, there is nothing to be scared about. The government will be solidly behind and your relocation will be as sure as death. Nobody ought to consider this to be a disappointment in the plan of the administration's reintegration program. In the event that a part of the nation is in security hazard ought not stop the unification of alternate parts of the nation. NYSC remains a commendable plan of our government regardless of these difficulties. Please be informed that you can always re-apply for relocation if your underlying application is rejected. Regardless of the fact that it is rejected the relocation process is always opened all through your service year. Considering relocation has its own difficulties. A portion of the significant difficulties are that your stipend (allowance) may be delayed in your new state of deployment, and getting your posting to a PPA tasking, since most of the better PPAs must have been occupied by corps members. I am very certain that I have given you enough information to arm you during your relocation process. I would be here later to proceed on articles that will keep on guiding you during the orientation course and service year. Please, look below you will see a comment box, do remember to drop a kind comment. Thanks for helping your good yourself. We care about you and will always be there  to assist you to the best of our ability. See you in Camp Abia, God's own state.

NYSC 2017 Senate list Checker

The 2017 Batch A  orientation course will be commencing few days after the printing of call-up letters. Please, all prospective corps members should ensure that their names appear on NYSC senate approved list, before proceeding to commerce registration. If you are yet to check NYSC senate approved list, kindly do it now using this link. NYSC SENATE LIST.

The Secret on how to turn your laptop or desktop to a Hotspot without the use of any third-party software

Firstly, let us start by understanding some vital terms needed to comprehend this learning process.
  1. A hotspot is actually a physical location where people may obtain Internet access, typically using Wi-Fi technology, via a wireless local area network (WLAN) using a router connected to an ISP (internet service provider) or a datacard popularly called a modem that is connected to an mobile telecommunication company like MTN, Airtel, GLO or Etisalat.
  2.  Netsh is actually a windows command-line scripting utility that allows you to, either locally or remotely, display or modify the network configuration of a computer that is currently running. Netsh also provides a scripting feature that allows you to run a group of commands in batch mode against a specified computer. Netsh can also be used as well to save a configuration script in a text file for archival purposes or to help you configure other servers. Though, Netsh has many usages, but for the purpose of our lesson, we will only concentrate on one of them.

Step One
  • ·         Ensure your laptop or desktop as a wireless Network adapter card. How do you find this out? Open the Run dialog box by pressing (Windows key + R) and Type “ncpa.cpl” and press the Enter Key.  You should see something like this. Check if can see WiFi Adapter Icon. If yes, lets proceed. If No, then stop following me.

  • Now Run you command Prompt as an Administrator.  Press the window key on keyboard and Type "CMD". Right click on it and click on Run as Administrator.
  • Now we are going to setup our hotspot name also known as Service set Identifier (SSID), Our Password or encryption key and the Wireless Network (Hotspot) Mode.

Step Two
I believe the command prompt is currently opened on your screen. Just like what I have here. Alright, lets proceed.
  • Type the command exactly as I have here "netsh wlan set hostednetwork ssid=nathanielwireless"
'nathanielwireless'  is the name of my hotspot, you are free to give yours its name too. After that, press the Enter Key.
  • After that Type this command "netsh wlan set hostednetwork key=asdfg12345"
'asdfg12345' is the password I am using to secured my hotspot, you are free to use yours.
  • After that Type this command "netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow". You are free to set yours to 'disallow' if you don't want your hotpot to be visible to the anyone. But for now, set to allow.
  • If you are sure you have completed this step and it was successful, CONGRATULATION!!!!!. Its time to move to next step.

Step Three
Its time start out hotpot, lets move it. Please, don't be in a haste in closing the command prompt window.
  •   Type the command exactly has as seen "netsh wlan start hostednetwork".
If successfully started, we are good to go.

Step four
Ensure your datacard is connected to your laptop. Follow step one and open the Network Adapter Area.
  • Right click on your datacard Adapter from the image on step one, my datacard adapter is called "Mobile Broadband 2, Glo 2".
  • Click on Properties, there are two tabs there "Networking" and "Sharing". Click on Sharing Tab.
  • On the Internet Connection Sharing area. Select the Checkbox that says "Allow other network users to connect though this computer internet connection" .
  • Then, On the Home Networking Connection Select list. Choose, the adapter your Hotspot created and Click on Ok.
If you done everything correctly, search for the hotspot and connect to it. You should be able to surf the Internet with the device.

Thanks for following through, please feel free to drop you questions on the comment bar. I will ready to entertain them.
